{"id":8405,"date":"2025-08-27T14:26:52","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T12:26:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/varietatslocals.org\/?p=8405"},"modified":"2025-08-27T14:26:55","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T12:26:55","slug":"local-forages-and-flowers-from-mallorca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/varietatslocals.org\/en\/farratges-i-flors-locals-de-mallorca\/","title":{"rendered":"Local fodder and flowers from Mallorca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Rediscovering the local forages of Mallorca<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">In this project, we are focusing on forages such as <strong>the Mallorcan plaster<\/strong>, <strong>the marsh<\/strong>, <strong>l<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>Mallorcan alfalfa<\/strong><strong>i<\/strong>, <strong>the sale<\/strong><strong>\u00e7<\/strong><strong>in Mallorcan<\/strong> or the unknown <strong>coffee<\/strong><strong>\u00e8 <\/strong><strong>Mallorcan<\/strong><strong>i<\/strong>. Other species of interest are also included such as <strong>blue and white chalks<\/strong>, the\u2019<strong>enclave<\/strong>, the <strong>fodder beet<\/strong> and even the\u2019<strong>enclave of Menorca<\/strong>, to better understand its adaptation and nutritional value within sustainable agricultural practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">The work being done includes <strong>the <\/strong><strong>prospect<\/strong><strong>\u00f3<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>the characterization<\/strong><strong>or and <\/strong><strong>multiplication<\/strong> of each of the varieties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In this first work, what has been done has been to make the <strong>prospecting<\/strong> of Mallorcan coffee; blue and white chalks, Mallorcan vetch, Mallorcan chalk, Mallorcan alfalfa, margall, enclove, fodder beet and enclove from Menorca.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>characterization<\/strong> It has been done on three of the varieties studied, Mallorcan coffee, enclove and Mallorcan alfalfa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>And, finally, the <strong>multiplication<\/strong> of fodder has been made on the Majorcan broad bean; black bean; Majorcan broad bean; Majorcan chickpea; Majorcan lentils; Majorcan coffee; Majorcan alfalfa and enclove<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">This research not only aims to recover forgotten varieties, but also <strong>reinforcement<\/strong><strong>food sovereignty<\/strong><strong>aria<\/strong>, <strong>improve biodiversity<\/strong> i <strong>to promote livestock farming<\/strong><strong>\u00e9<\/strong><strong>is rooted in the territory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">We invite all interested people \u2014farmers, ranchers, researchers and consumers\u2014 to join this collective process of knowledge, experimentation and dissemination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\"><strong>Flowers from here: recovering the traditional floral varieties of Mallorca<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">From the\u2019<strong>Association<\/strong><strong>\u00f3 <\/strong><strong>of Local Varieties<\/strong>, we are working for <strong>recover, study and preserve Mallorcan flowers of local varieties<\/strong>, which have been cultivated and loved generation after generation, seed after seed. These flowers not only have ornamental and cultural value, but are also a treasure of <strong>biodiversity<\/strong>, <strong>resilient<\/strong><strong>\u00e8<\/strong><strong>ance<\/strong> i <strong>local identity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">Among the species we are studying we find the <strong>perpetual red<\/strong>, the <strong>lilac<\/strong>, the <strong>pink<\/strong> and the <strong>white<\/strong>, as well as the <strong>popcorn<\/strong> o <strong>flakes<\/strong>, the <strong>pot tobacco<\/strong>, the <strong>pink m<\/strong><strong>i<\/strong><strong>stic<\/strong>, the <strong>clove<\/strong>, the <strong>rooster combs<\/strong>, the <strong>blond tobacco<\/strong> (also in version of <strong>white flower<\/strong>), the <strong>handshake<\/strong>, the <strong>cosmos<\/strong>, the <strong>crowned sun<\/strong>, the <strong>capuchin<\/strong>, the <strong>waterfall<\/strong>, the <strong>beautiful<\/strong>, the <strong>Americans<\/strong>, the <strong>September<\/strong>, the <strong>margalidera de s<\/strong><strong>inia<\/strong>, the <strong>healthy<\/strong><strong>All Saints&#039; Day<\/strong> and the <strong>brilliant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">Three aspects have been worked on regarding flowers. <strong>prospect<\/strong><strong>\u00f3<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>the characterization<\/strong><strong>or and <\/strong><strong>multiplication. <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thus the <strong>prospecting<\/strong> It has been made from each and every one of the varieties studied. This is the red, lilac, pink and white perennials. Poppies or floquets, the tobacco of the leg, the tobacco of the blonde and the tobacco of the white flower, the mystic rose, the carnation of the corn, the crests of the cockscomb, the lanceolate, the cosmos, the sun crowned, the nasturtium, the cascai, the bellveure, the americans, the setembrins, the margalidera of sinia, the sage of All Saints and the brilliants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>characterization<\/strong> In this first analysis, all varieties of perpetuals, pot tobacco and poplars or floquets were analyzed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>And the <strong>multiplication<\/strong> on the same plants that have been characterized, namely pesp\u00e8tues, tobacco and poplars in addition to the mystic rose, the carnation and the cockscomb.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">These flowers speak of our land and our history.
