Mallorcan alfalfa is an irrigated forage crop that can last between 6 and 7 years. It is an excellent crop for rotation and as a green manure. It is very productive, with a tall stem, and is harvested in spring and summer, with a winter rest period. It can be harvested every 21-28 days. It is used green, can be preserved once dried, and has a high nutritional quality.
When and how is it sown?
It's possible sow between September and March, for mowing from April to October. It is sown in clusters, and the seeding rate is about 2.5 gr/m², or 25kg/ha.
