Today is the end of Cultivated Biodiversity Week, where we have done a lot of activities!
On Friday the 15th we held the teachers' day "Introducing agrobiodiversity in schools by sharing experiences". We held it at the Can Dulce cultural center, where we also claimed Rural Women's Day, sharing the experience of different teachers who plant the seed in different educational centers in Mallorca.
On Saturday we visited the public farm in Menut, where we could see the seed bank of forest species from the Balearic Islands, the nursery, the xyloteca... Many thanks to Carles and Toni for the visit!
To end the weekend, on Sunday we went to the archaeological museum site of Son Fornés doing workshops for the little ones together with the museum. In addition to a visit and workshop to the talaiots, they prepared the Son Fornés vegetable garden, planting broad beans, garlic, watercress... They also planted lettuce, which they took to take care of at home, and learned which foods they correspond with each station.
Throughout the week we have also carried out the activities "Introduction of local varieties to school gardens" in different educational centers, where they have had a great time! We have been able to go/will go to the partner centers CEIP Robines de Binissalem, CEIP Es Molinar, CEIP Escola Nova de Porreres, CEIP Nadal Campaner Arrom de Costitx, CEIP Ses Marjades de Sóller, CEIP Sant Jordi, IES Santanyí and IES Binissalem.
The day for teachers and workshops in educational centers are activities included in the project «"Environmental education about the cultivated biodiversity of Mallorca"», subsidized by the aid of environmental education activities of the Ministry of Environment and Territory.
